How can stress affect hair?

According to the Oxford Dictionary, stress is described as a demand upon the mental and physical energy. A lot of us may find it difficult to carry out our daily routines smoothly. These routines include; raising children, managing the house, taking care of the finances, earning bread by working for hours together so that we can live for the day and so on and so forth. Al these doings are required and important, but when it takes up all your mental and physical stress peace, then stress, depression is the outcome.

There are two types of stress induced hair loss:

Telogen effluvium: Telogen effluvium occurs when an individual is induced with stress in sudden or due to loads of work and stress full events. Though this condition is a temporary phase, but hair loss during this stage usually happens. But if you are worried of your hair growth, then let me render you some happiness, by saying that, your hair may grow back within 6-9 months after the stressful events and chronic stress problems are solved.

Alopecia areata: Alopecia areata is a condition which promotes excessive and damaging hair loss due to intense stress. The white blood cells in this condition attack the hair follicles from its roots, which hinders hair growth. Though hair may grow back, but the percentage and the pace of hair growth is comparatively slower due to alopecia.
